"The original was so great, I just kept it exactly as is," states Cube, who is no stranger to sampling. "This project came very naturally to me," he continues. The "new" song is sure to cause a stir in the continued debate over what constitutes intellectual property violations in the music industry. "I condensed everything that was happening in my life at the time down to one song," he explains, "In my environment, this song was playing on the radio, so I made it my own. Also, mimicry is the best form of flattery."

Cube has made sampling a part of his reputation, but usually, the majority of his releases have been primarily original. Representatives for Vanilla Ice have made no public comments. "Plus," adds Cube, "I'ma come right back at him with the whole Queen thing if he gets up in my face 'bout nething."

"I look at it this way," states Cube, with a profound and meritorious point, "We are exposed to new stuff at a feverish pace. There is little done nowadays that hasn't been done before. And now, with technology, there is nothing that is not on record. There is absolutely no possible way, or at least it is becoming more and more difficult every day, to claim rights to anything as your own. I like the song, and will donate proceeds to charity. I did this to prove a point," he finishes.
