Vagina Monologues To Be Set To Music

The director is chosen, the songs are written, and the band, Feminine Touch, is all set. The Vagina Monologues, The Musical, will debut on Broadway in mid 2011. It will be billed as The Vagina Sing-Alongs, and promoters are singing its praises. "The play that drew so much attention a number of years ago, will attract a new audience and build on the success and discussion created by the original," says marketing director Sheila Fox. Fox's company, Just For Women, is a leader in marketing feminine products from coast to coast. "We are looking to take the vagina global."

The director, Deiter Wolfowitz, is, yes, a man. "I am happy to have taken this position," states Wolfowitz, "I think I bring a lot to the project. Plus, this musical is not just for women. It opens dialogue for men and women alike. I look forward to hearing people humming 'Power to My Privates,' as they pass me on public streets across the world." Wolfowitz beat out some big names who had made the short list. "I am honored to have been chosen, but know I have a lot yet to prove."

A screen version is in the works as well, with many sponsors already on board. LIfetime has expressed interest, and bidding for commercial spots has already intensified. Fox is in charge of this project as well. "This segment of the project has already turned a profit, and we are only a small percentage into it. About the only thing set is that it will include Michael Moore in a pantyhose spot that will be dazzling." Fox goes on to explain that they are considering making it a pay per view event with commercials. "The whole project is red hot already, and may just be the savior of Broadway and cable."
