Vegas Hotel Owner Claims Business Haunted By Ghost of Elvis

One guest claims an apparition of The King appeared one late night, Inquiring "Ma'am, may I please use your restroom," proceeding to sit on the toilet, and after flushing, stating "Thank you very much," then dissipating in an instant. Another guest states she was flattered by his innocent hip gyrations, once considered over the top, as the ghost sang a few lines from "Hunk of Burning Love." These are just a few anecdotes hotel owner Jim Shorts gives in explaining the situation.

Shorts admits the legend is actually good for business. While the hotel is out of the way for some, on the outskirts of Vegas, many reservations are now made with inquiries about the handsome ghost. Claims of channels switching to The Nashville Network are common.

One room in particular, seems to be haunted by an older version of Elvis, however. Room 5, according to shorts, lays vacant often. The most recent haunting there, according to the hotel owner, involves a bottle of Metamucil violently being hurled at an occupant, and exploding with a puff upon hitting the wall. "The staff didn't like going in there one bit to clean up that mess," says Shorts. "One maid refuses to go in there again, after hearing a screaming, low pitched voice with a Southern drawl exclaim 'Lisa, Lisa, don't marry that man!' over and over." For now, the legend grows, and so do bookings, and Shorts is considering a name change to capitalize on the situation. "I'm open for suggestions, just as I am open to reservations for people with an open mind," he says.
